The Open Book is looking for a manager for our new coffee nook, Booklet. You’ll be responsible for getting things started, growing this micro-business, including all the marketing, and running it day-to-day.
Booklet is a new addition to our well-established offering of secondhand books. You’ll need to be an experienced barista but you’ll also be responsible for establishing the Booklet brand, attracting customers, managing suppliers and doing all the other things necessary for Booklet’s success. You’ll have a lot of decision-making freedom to develop Booklet and make it your own, working as part of the excellent Open Book crew.
The job
Establishing, developing and managing Booklet. This includes having sole responsibility for its upkeep, presentation, stock, promotion and commercial success, reporting to the Store Manager.
Making delicious drinks for customers, and sourcing delicious comestibles that can be sold alongside.
Proactively developing and executing ideas that will help Booklet grow and reach more people.
Working weekends, Saturday and Sunday, 9.45am-2.30pm, with expansion depending on your success.
Our ideal applicant
Loves all forms of coffee, can make an excellent brew, and has space in their heart for the ritual of tea.
Has experience as a barista and also with marketing and social media.
Able to get stuck into things quickly. We’re looking for someone who can start making coffee, developing the business and managing themselves from day one.
Is kind, reliable, honest, calm, committed and trustworthy, and appreciates clear communication.
Can work autonomously and collaboratively.
Enjoys finding solutions and being creative .
Loves the idea of working within a bookstore with other book lovers.
